On October 28, 2011 Green Alternative sent an appeal to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources requesting public information on hunting species, particularly on the results of registration of hunting species, as well as the information about which methods, periods and territories were used to conduct the research of populations and which scientific organizations\/experts participated in this research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The information confirming that the data from such researches were available at the Ministry was published in a newspaper Kviris Palitra (19 September 2011) and Liberali magazine (No 93; 13-19 October 2010).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources did not meet the requirements of the General Administrative Code of Georgia and actually neglected Green Alternative\u2019s request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On January 10, 2012 the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources issued a statement on its official website, according to which \u201cquotas on the extraction of the objects of the wild world in the hunting season in 2012 were approved: coypu (nutria)- 194, hare -615, badger-168, pine marten- 157, beech marten- 157, wolf -120, jackal- 1453, fox- 162, wildcat- 77, wild pig- 189, roe deer-147, raccoon-96, pheasant- 416, partridge- 713, black francolin- 50.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Green Alternative believes that the information posted on the Ministry\u2019s website provides false data, because not a single state or scientific institution has ever estimated hunting species. Furthermore, hunting quotas should definitely be bound to a particular hunting plot. Legalization of the number of hunting species without specifying those areas, where it is possible to extract these animals (i.e. without distribution of extractable species by hunting plots) is quite absurd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the Government made a decision to allow hunting for rare and endangered species, it is expected that in the near future the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources will publish false data concerning hunting quotas on the species entered in the Red List. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
